“Stitch Witch” is a mobile repair service (complete with neon pink cart) which will be travelling round various community events and festivals this summer.   If you have a hole in your favourite party pants or you’ve lost a buckle on your rucksacks find the Stitch Witch who will help you with some quick mending.  She will also be available to teach new skills including upcycling, mending, darning and re-imagining your existing garments.  You can also pick up one of our free mini mending kits to use at home.

The Stitch Witch herself (aka Tamsyn Payne) said "Red Rumpus is looking forward to a summer of make do and mend around the festivals and fairs of Northants. We had a lovely first event last weekend, despite the roasting sunshine lots of people came out to learn about mending and upgrading their existing clothes. Fast fashion is one of the biggest contributors to climate change, you can get some amazing stuff second hand that will last a lifetime with a bit of care and we're here to show you how."

Stitch Witch will be at the following events Pride Rocks! Market Milton Keynes at The Crauford Arms 25th July, Greenbelt Festival Boughton House 27-30 August and Northampton Art Jam 5th September.  We still have space in the calendar for a few more events so keep an eye on the Red Rumpus Facebook page for latest information. If you have something that needs a quick fix, bring it along and we will show you how. Clothes, accessories, toys, jewellery (no electronics!) we aim to bring your beloved things back to usefulness.  Equally, if you just want to come and sit in the shade and look at the buttons and talk about slowing down, you are also very welcome.  Mending is so good for your brain and your heart and obviously for the planet.  Stitch it slow and love it forever.

Stitch Witch is funded by the Small Green Arts Fund via Northamptonshire Community Foundation.

Red Rumpus are a Northampton based Arts Collective who work to combine social change, play and good mental health through slow movement practices.
