'Serendipity' watercolour exhibition at The Shoosmith Gallery, Delapré Abbey

A new exhibition by Eileen Gascoigne brings together a selection of her recent work, shaped as much by observation as by the natural movement of water and pigment.

Born in Northern Ireland, Eileen Gascoigne studied Fine Art at the Ulster College of Art and Design before going on to teach art in Northamptonshire. Upon retiring she became a full-time artist, exhibiting her work locally and further afield.

Embracing a lifelong passion for watercolour, Gascoigne uses a wet-in-wet technique that "allows colour the freedom to seek its own path". Her paintings focus on light, atmosphere and landscape, often inspired by the Irish coastline.

The work will be displayed alongside the gallery's permanent collection of watercolour paintings from Northampton's Shoosmith family, including the celebrated Thurston Laidlaw Shoosmith (1865 - 1933).

The exhibition runs from Thursday 4th June to Tuesday 30th June at The Shoosmith Gallery, Delapré Abbey.

Artworks will be available for purchase.

Admission and parking are free.

Opening times: Tuesday - Friday: 10am - 4pm
Saturday: 11am - 4pm.
