Residents at Northamptonshire care home mark Parkinson’s Awareness Week with afternoon tea party
Staff and residents at Barchester’s Claremont Parkway care home in Kettering marked the start of Parkinson’s Awareness Week (April 7 to 13) by hosting a special Afternoon Tea Party for the Kettering branch of Parkinson’s UK.
On Friday April 10 they were delighted to host the Kettering branch of Parkinson's UK for a very special Afternoon Tea Party — celebrating an incredible 40 years of support, dedication, and community for those living with Parkinson's within the local community.
In celebration of this amazing achievement around thirty guests joined residents for the occasion, with tickets kindly sold by Parkinson's UK Kettering to raise vital funds for their fantastic work. Claremont Parkway were proud to provide the venue and food complimentarily as our small way of giving back to such a worthy cause.
They were also honoured to welcome the Mayor of Kettering, who attended to personally thank Parkinson's UK Kettering for their 40 years of incredible service, and took the time to meet with the home’s residents and staff — a truly special touch to a memorable day!

General Manager, Joanna Mosses, said: “Parkinson’s affects a lot of older people and some of our residents are living with the disease so, when hearing our local branch of Parkinson’s UK were turning 40, we took the opportunity to personally thank them, and help raise additional funds for a cause close to our hearts.”
Celebrated annually on 11th April the theme for World Parkinson's Day 2026, 'Bridge the Care Gap', reflects a major global concern: unequal access to Parkinson's care.
The atmosphere was absolutely lovely — smiles all round, great conversation, and plenty of tea and treats. A huge congratulations to everyone at Parkinson's UK Kettering — here's to 40 more years!
