Pineham Barns Primary School celebrates 'exceptional' landmark Ofsted recognition
"We are absolutely delighted with this report, which reflects the tireless dedication and commitment of our staff, and the brilliant support of our wider community. It is wonderful to see this recognised so clearly"
Pineham Barns Primary School is celebrating an exemplary Ofsted inspection outcome, with its Early Years provision judged 'exceptional' and all other areas recognised as 'strong' under the new inspection framework.

Under the new framework, a strong standard recognises schools that have excellent, consistent teaching and leadership that goes above and beyond what is required, making a positive difference to the experiences and outcomes for all children. Exceptional practice is defined as being 'of the highest standard nationally' from which other schools can learn.
Inspectors highlighted Early Years provision as a key strength at the school, noting that “leaders have created an exception provision” where "every child thrives from the moment they arrive” in an environment “rich in language, calm and purposeful” with expert staff. High-quality transition arrangements, including home visits and close work with families, ensure children settle quickly and staff understand their needs precisely.
As a result, pupils leave Reception as confident, curious learners, exceptionally well prepared for Year One, the report stated.
Across the rest of the school, inspectors found a consistently strong standard. Disadvantaged pupils achieve as well as their peers and often better than pupils nationally by the end of Key Stage 2 — a reflection of the school's high ambition for every child. Pupils speak proudly and with real interest about their work, and grow into thoughtful, respectful and confident young people who understand difference, value community and are ready for life beyond school.
Central to this inspectors found a strong sense of belonging. Relationships are warm, positive and respectful; pupils work well together, support each other and take pride in contributing to their community. Behaviour is consistently positive, the curriculum is ambitious and well taught, and inclusion is at the heart of everything the school does.
Caroline Stewart, Executive Principal, said: "We are absolutely delighted with this report, which reflects the tireless dedication and commitment of our staff, and the brilliant support of our wider community. It is wonderful to see this recognised so clearly."
Paul Watson, Chief Executive of Preston Hedges Trust, which runs the school, added: "This is a fantastic achievement. Securing an exceptional judgement for Early Years provision so early in the new Ofsted framework is virtually unparalleled nationally, and demonstrates the outstanding quality of education and experiences at Pineham Barns."
Inspectors concluded that pupils thrive in a calm, inclusive environment where they feel safe, valued and fully prepared for the next stage of their education. Pupils described the school as a place ‘where we accept everyone.’
