A £5,000 grant from the Northamptonshire High Sheriff's Initiative Fund, awarded via Northamptonshire Community Foundation, enabled Sport4Fitness CIC to deliver a school intervention programme in partnership with Lemonpop Workshops for young people at risk of anti-social behaviour, exclusion or offending.

The 12-week programme combined inclusive sports with creative arts sessions, giving participants the opportunity to build teamwork, communication skills, confidence and a sense of belonging in a safe and supportive environment. Working alongside school staff, the project supported young people facing a range of challenges, including SEND, social, emotional and mental health needs, and exposure to crime and deprivation.

The funding helped young people understand the consequences of anti-social behaviour while encouraging healthier lifestyles through regular physical activity and creative expression. The programme also provided a pathway into Sport4Fitness CIC's wider community activities, helping participants continue building positive relationships and accessing trusted support beyond the classroom.

Northamptonshire Community Foundation is the county’s largest independent grant maker, having given more than £25 million in grants since its inception in 2001. This year marks an exciting milestone for NCF – 25 years of inspiring local giving for local needs. Building on this, NCF is also looking 25 years ahead, with bold ambition for a fairer, thriving and more connected county for generations to come. Their latest Impact Report is ready to read here.
