Northampton's Retro Charts Radio named best small online station in the UK
The Northampton based, and ground-breaking Retro Charts Radio has just won the Media Guild Award for the Best Small Online Radio Station.

The station was nominated after a public vote, then chosen as the winner by Media Guild members and industry professionals.
Retro Charts Radio was created by Andy Johnson and launched in January 2023 to 'Rip Up The Radio Rule Book' and stand out among the many thousands of internets station available worldwide.

It has several unique selling points, namely a six week no repeat policy. This is achieved through a library of over 15 thousand songs covering the entire archive of the UK Top 40 from its inception in November 1952, through to the end of the century. Every single hit plays randomly until all the songs have been played once, then the cycle starts again in a different random order.
The 'Now Playing' feature also displays the year of chart entry and its highest chart position too. Fascinating facts nobody else provides on such a feature.
Another nice touch is the addition of audio messages sent in by the stars themselves, which play occasionally alongside their hits. A total of 144 messages have been received to date from the likes of Billy J. Kramer, Carol Decker, Chesney Hawkes, Colin Blunstone, Crystal Gayle, Helen Shapiro, Hue & Cry, John Parr, Kid Creole, Limahl, Marty Wilde, Pat Boone, Right Said Fred, and Suzi Quatro, to name but a few!
Retro Charts Radio is all about keeping the music alive and having unequalled variety. This could be why why the station has received its first award. The first of many no doubt.
