Northampton to host free summit opening doors into music and creative careers for young people
A free event designed to help young people explore real opportunities in music and creative industries is coming to Northampton this April.
The Musically Unorthodox Summit 2026 will take place on Friday, April 17, at The Black Diamond, bringing together artists, educators, youth organisations and industry professionals for a full day focused on connection, inspiration and practical next steps.
The Summit is open to young people, especially ages 11-16 and those disengaged from education, as well as teachers, youth workers, parents and organisations supporting young people who are interested in creative careers or looking for a new direction.
Speakers include Seani B (BBC 1Xtra) alongside contributors connected to organisations such as Mixtape Madness, Media For All and DCMS, offering real insight into how careers in music and media actually develop.

Organisers say the event is about showing that there are many different ways into the creative industries not just performing but roles in production, events, media and behind the scenes.
“This Summit is about opening doors and showing young people, especially NEET (not in employment, education or training) that there are real pathways into creative careers,” “Whether someone has already started creating or simply has an interest in music but doesn’t know where to begin, this day is designed to give them direction, confidence and connections.”
The day will include talks, panel discussions, networking opportunities and practical conversations focused on helping young people understand their options and take meaningful next steps.
Following the daytime Summit, the venue will host the Musically Unorthodox After Party, a live music showcase featuring emerging artists and established performers, headlined by Seani B.
