Northampton man takes leap of faith for Menphys charity

“We’re incredibly proud of Joseph. Jumping out of a plane takes real courage, but doing it to support others shows real heart”

A Northampton man has taken fundraising to new heights after completing a charity skydive in aid of Menphys, the Leicestershire charity supporting disabled children, young people and their families.

Joseph Connolly, who works for Northampton-based software company Web Alliance, jumped out of a plane on Friday to raise money for the charity, which provides life-changing support, services and opportunities for families across the local community. Taking off from Sibson Aerodrome in Peterborough, the plane climbed to 13,000 feet before Joseph faced his fears and made the leap.

The challenge saw Joseph swap his usual working week as a marketing executive for the adrenaline-filled endeavour, all in support of Menphys.

Joseph said: “Jumping out of a plane was definitely one of the most nerve-wracking things I’ve ever done, but knowing it was for Menphys made it totally worthwhile. The work they do for disabled children, young people and their families is incredible, and I’m really grateful to everyone who has supported the fundraiser so far. It’s been an amazing experience and I’m very proud to have played a small part in helping such an important charity.”

Joseph’s employer, Web Alliance, praised his bravery and said the skydive reflected the company’s belief in giving back to the wider community.

Ashish Kumar, director of Web Alliance, said: “We’re incredibly proud of Joseph. Jumping out of a plane takes real courage, but doing it to support others shows real heart. We encourage our colleagues to give back and make a difference to the community, whether that’s through fundraising, volunteering or simply shining a light on causes that matter. Joseph’s skydive is a brilliant example of that spirit in action and we can’t congratulate him enough.”
