Northampton independent travel agent launches idea to help solo mums holiday together
As a travel agent and a mum of two, I've recently helped several single mums book holidays abroad. During those conversations, I realised they all shared very similar worries.. travelling alone with children, navigating airports without another adult, feeling lonely, and wondering whether they'd cope.

Although I'm not a single parent myself, my husband works long hours, so I often think about taking my own children away alone. I want them to see the world, but I completely understand those same anxieties.
It made me ask one simple question: what if mums didn't have to do it alone?

I shared the idea on social media of organising group holidays where single mums, or any mums travelling solo with their children, could book onto the same holiday. The idea isn't for everyone to spend every minute together, but to know there are other mums in the same situation. Children could make friends, mums could have company if they wanted it, and everyone would still have the freedom to enjoy their own holiday.
The response has been incredibly positive, with parents saying it's something they would have loved when their children were younger or that they would seriously consider now. Some have even said the airport is the part they dread most when travelling alone with children, and knowing there were familiar faces from the start would make a huge difference.
I'd love to gauge interest from parents across the UK, as this wouldn't just be for local families. As a travel agent, I can arrange departures from a range of regional airports, making it accessible wherever people live.
I genuinely believe there's a gap in the market for something like this. If it gives even one parent the confidence to make special memories with their children that they might otherwise have missed out on, then it's worth exploring. I'm imagining something affordable, not too far away, with sociable flight times, a short transfer, a fantastic family-friendly hotel with plenty to keep the children entertained, a beach nearby, and things to do if you wanted to explore. I'd be looking at 2027 and beyond, so there would be plenty of time to budget and spread the cost with manageable monthly payments if needed. I honestly don't know whether this is a brilliant idea or whether it'll completely flop... but I can't shake the feeling there could be a real gap in the market for something like this. If you think this could help someone you know, I'd be incredibly grateful if you could share this, tag any mums who might be interested, or share it into local parenting or single-parent groups. The more feedback I receive, the better I'll know whether this is something worth bringing to life. You don't have to comment publicly if you'd rather not, feel free to send me a private message!
