Northampton Bike Park celebrates community support this Volunteers' Week
As National Volunteers' Week is celebrated across the UK, Northampton Bike Park is recognising the volunteers who help keep the facility running.
Managed by Northamptonshire Sport, Northampton Bike Park is free to use and open throughout the year. The facility has become a popular destination for riders of all ages and abilities, attracting visitors from across Northamptonshire and beyond. While many people enjoy spending time at the Bike Park, fewer realise the important role volunteers play behind the scenes.
Volunteers support the Bike Park in a variety of ways, helping with maintenance days, site improvements, events, and the ongoing care of the facility. Their contribution helps ensure the park remains a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable place for everyone who uses it.
Recent incidents of graffiti on signage around the site have highlighted the ongoing work involved in looking after the Bike Park. They also show why community support remains so important.
Paul Saunders, Manager at Northampton Bike Park, said: "The Bike Park wouldn't be what it is without the support of volunteers.
People often see the facilities and the activity taking place, but there's a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to keep the site looking its best. Recent graffiti on some of the signage is a reminder that community facilities need ongoing care and attention.
We're incredibly grateful to the volunteers who help us throughout the year. Their time, skills and commitment help keep the Bike Park running and make a real difference to everyone who uses it.”
The Bike Park is always keen to hear from people who would like to get involved and support the facility.
Whether you're a regular rider, a resident or simply someone who wants to help look after a valued community asset, there are a range of ways to volunteer.
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, develop new skills and help ensure Northampton Bike Park continues to thrive for years to come.
