Magical new forest-themed library opens at Naseby C of E Primary School
Naseby C of E Primary School has officially unveiled its exciting new multi-sensory Forest-Themed Library, creating a magical reading space designed to inspire a lifelong love of books among pupils, families and the wider community.

The ambitious project was made possible thanks to funding from a grant awarded by a local windfarm and generous support from the Naseby School Association (NSA). Work began last half term with a programme of redecoration and refurbishment, transforming the former space into an immersive woodland reading experience.
The library was officially opened by local children's author, wildlife writer and zoologist, Jules Howard, who cut the ribbon during a special celebration attended by pupils, staff, governors, members of the NSA, parents, families, representatives from the local community, the Windfarm Trust and the Parish Council.

Headteacher Louise Cook spoke passionately about the school's commitment to reading.
“Reading for pleasure is highly valued and core to school life here at Naseby and we work hard as a school to grow our Reading for Pleasure pedagogy,” she said. “We read to children every day. We choose these books carefully as we want children to experience a wide range of books, including books that reflect the children and our local community, as well as books that open windows into other worlds and cultures.”
Mrs Cook explained that the school has spent recent years developing classroom libraries to ensure children have access to a diverse range of high-quality, up-to-date books suitable for all reading levels.
“This year it has been my mission to create an exciting and inspiring Forest-Themed Library for the whole school, where children, families and the local community can visit to choose and enjoy a good book in a special place,” she said.

Thanks to the hard work of the NSA and school staff, the vision has become a reality — and exceeded expectations.
Visitors stepping through the library's wooden archway are transported into what many described as a magical woodland world. The immersive space features a reading treehouse, a tree throne, toadstool and log cushions, and a grass-coloured furry carpet. The gentle scent of lavender fills the air, while forest sounds play softly in the background. A screen displaying woodland wildlife completes the experience, creating a truly multi-sensory environment where children can relax and enjoy reading.
Mrs Cook added: “I want to thank everyone who has made this amazing library possible. I hope it will continue to inspire our children to become passionate readers and continue to develop a love of reading.”
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Jules Howard led a whole-school question-and-answer session in the new library, engaging pupils while parents, families and visitors listened in. He also generously donated a selection of his books to the library before visiting classrooms to answer further questions from enthusiastic young readers.

The excitement surrounding the new facility is set to continue, with children and staff looking forward to regular weekly visits. They are also delighted to welcome volunteer librarian Terri Morris, who will help develop pupils' library skills and share stories with children throughout the year.
The Forest-Themed Library represents a significant investment in reading, imagination and community engagement, ensuring that generations of Naseby pupils can discover the joy of books in a truly unforgettable setting.
