I felt this was a real coming together of community’s after the venue offered the room to us free of charge & a friend and local councillor Paul Clarke offered to provide a sound system & backround music also free of charge.
over 100 people attended the quiz night and brought raffle tickets and in total we raised £3400 on the night and this takes my total fundraising to over £5500 currently.
I could not have done this night without the help of my family including my mum emailing around local company’s for raffle prizes.
In 2019, my Mum was diagnosed with Parkinson's aged 53 and over the last 5 years her and our family have adjusted in many ways; physically and mentally to adjust to her 'new normal'.
Parkinson's UK aim to fund the right research into promising treatments with an aim to find a cure, and their goal is to deliver better treatments to people that need them, faster. I can fully appreciate how this would improve a person with Parkinson's quality of life and the difference improved treatment would make.
I have always loved watching the London Marathon on TV and found myself getting into running since the lockdown and completing a few half marathons. Me and Mum decided to go down to London in 2024 and cheer the runners on which inspired me to contact Parkinson’s UK and enter the marathon.
