Knights sign off in style with thrilling home finale at The Grange
The sun was shining, the stands were packed, and the Northants Knights gave their supporters the perfect send-off with a dominant 52-14 victory over Wembley Stallions in their final U19 game of the season.
Despite a campaign that hadn't always gone to plan, Saturday's home tournament at The Grange in Earls Barton showcased exactly what American football in Northamptonshire can be. Families, former players and supporters turned out in force for the club's first-ever "White Out" game day, creating an electric atmosphere as the Knights delivered one of their best performances of the year.
The opening drive stalled, but once the offence found its rhythm there was no looking back.

Senior quarterback Olly Keeber opened the scoring with a perfectly placed touchdown pass to Tom Elliott in the corner of the end zone before Ben Rowe powered over for the two-point conversion to give the Knights an early 8-0 advantage.
The defence, which has shown flashes of promise throughout the season, then announced itself in spectacular fashion. Linebacker Yande Mwansa punched the ball free from the Stallions running back before fellow linebacker Joe Campbell scooped up the loose football and raced into the end zone to extend the lead.
Although Wembley responded with a long touchdown to reduce the deficit to 14-8, the Knights immediately took control once again.
Behind a dominant offensive line featuring Luke Vincent, Alfie Harman, Tam Aloaye and Riley Mooney-Ismael, running back Tommy-Lee Jubane repeatedly found running lanes, powering in back-to-back rushing touchdowns as the home side began to pull away.

Defensively, Harry Slator and LJ Chanakira led a relentless effort that kept the Stallions offence under pressure throughout the afternoon, helping the Knights carry a commanding 27-8 lead into half-time.
The interval provided more than just a chance for coaches to regroup. Players took a moment to appreciate the incredible crowd that had gathered for the club's historic White Out event. Every Knights touchdown was met by a roar from the packed stand, with the atmosphere unlike anything the club has previously experienced at home.
The second half continued in much the same fashion.
Keeber wasted little time adding another highlight to his final game, connecting with Tom Elliott on a superb 45-yard touchdown strike.

While the offence dazzled, the defence continued to dominate. Defensive MVP Rocky Murtala produced a sensational display, recording six tackles for loss and spending much of the afternoon in the Stallions backfield.
Harry Wheatley then produced one of the biggest plays of the day, climbing high to intercept a pass before returning it all the way for another Knights touchdown. Although Wembley managed a late score of their own, the result was already beyond doubt.
Keeber fittingly capped his remarkable afternoon by throwing his third touchdown pass of the game, finding Oliver Lam-Drinkwater deep downfield.
Then came the perfect ending.

After starring for much of the contest at tight end, versatile playmaker Tom Clayton moved under centre at quarterback and powered over for the final touchdown of the afternoon, sealing an emphatic 52-14 victory and sparking celebrations among players and supporters alike.
The afternoon was also an emotional one.
Head coach Jack O'Beirne had already announced that this would be his final game in charge after seven seasons leading the U19 programme. Former players and their families returned to The Grange to witness the occasion, many staying afterwards to share memories and photographs with the coach who has helped shape the journeys of countless young athletes across Northamptonshire.
It was a fitting farewell, with smiles, applause and a performance worthy of the occasion.
More than anything, Saturday demonstrated the growing appeal of American football in the county. From exciting end-to-end action and spectacular touchdowns to a welcoming family atmosphere, music, food and passionate supporters, The Grange delivered a game day experience that left many already looking forward to the next event.
That opportunity comes on Saturday, 25 July, when the Northants Knights U16 side hosts the final tournament of its season. The Birmingham Lions, Sheffield Giants and Lincolnshire Bombers will all travel to Earls Barton for another day of American football action.

If Saturday proved anything, it's that you don't have to travel to London or watch the NFL on television to experience the excitement of the sport.
The action is happening right here in Northamptonshire.
Tickets are available through the Northants Knights Academy social media channels.
