Taking place throughout October, International Walk to School Month celebrates the benefits of walking and wheeling to school where possible, including helping children stay active and reducing the number of vehicles around school gates.

The housebuilder donated 150 hi-vis bag tags to Alderman Jacobs Primary School in Whittlesey, located near its Violet Meadows development, and 150 to Priors Hall – A Learning Community, which is situated within the wider Priors Hall Park community where Allison Homes Central is delivering 161 new homes.

A further 150 bag tags were donated to Eye CofE Primary School, located close to the housebuilder’s upcoming Colliers Rest development in Eye, where we will deliver 265 new homes.

The bag tags are designed to be attached to pupils’ school bags, helping improve visibility during the darker mornings and evenings, particularly during the winter months, and on busy routes surrounding schools.

By providing the hi-vis bag tags during International Walk to School Month, Allison Homes Central hopes to support pupils making active journeys while helping them remain more easily seen by drivers, cyclists and other pedestrians.

Eye CofE Primary School, said: “Thank you to Allison Homes for their generous donation of reflective bag tags for our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils. These will help improve visibility for our children as they walk to and from school, particularly during the darker months. We really appreciate this thoughtful support for our school community.”

Martin Fry, Headteacher at Alderman Jacobs Primary School, said: “A big thank you to Allison Homes for the donation of the reflective bag tags. Our Eco Energy Squad has been exploring ways to encourage more children to walk and cycle to school.

“One of these is our WOW (Walk On Wednesday) Bus, where parents drop their children off around half a mile from Alderman Jacobs, allowing them to walk the rest of the journey together. The reflective bag tags will be given to every child who joins the walking bus this term, helping them to be more visible on their journey.”

Teighan Ridge, Administrator at Priors Hall – A Learning Community, said: “We were delighted to receive the reflective bag tags from Allison Homes and know they will be a useful addition for our pupils. It’s lovely to see local organisations supporting our children in such a practical way, and we hope the tags will encourage them to take extra care when travelling around our community.”

Kelly Toms, Sales and Marketing Director at Allison Homes Central, said: “International Walk to School Month is a valuable opportunity to highlight the benefits of active journeys and the importance of helping pupils stay visible on their way to and from school.

“These hi-vis bag tags are a simple but practical way to support local families, particularly as the mornings and evenings become darker. We’re pleased to support Alderman Jacobs Primary School, Priors Hall – A Learning Community and Eye CofE Primary School, and hope the donations will be useful for pupils.”
