Still a much-loved family home of the Lowther family, Holdenby House opens its doors to visitors only a handful of times each year, making this a rare opportunity to experience one of Northamptonshire’s most fascinating historic homes.

Originally built in 1583, Holdenby House has stood proudly for centuries, witnessing royal visits, historic events and extraordinary transformations. Once used as a residence by King James I and later the place of imprisonment for King Charles I, the house remains deeply connected to England’s rich heritage. Following the English Civil War, much of the original palace was destroyed, leaving behind the stunning servants’ quarters that remain today.
