Gretton Primary Academy marks the end of the school year in spectacular Colour Run
“The Colour Run has quickly become a highlight of our school year”
A burst of colour, laughter and community spirit filled Gretton Primary Academy, part of Brooke Weston Trust, as students, teachers and parents took part in the school's second annual Colour Run.

Held at the school on Friday 17th, the vibrant community event raised over £1000 for the school, bringing together families, staff and the wider community for an afternoon of fundraising.
Julia Dickinson, Principal of Gretton Primary Academy, said: “The Colour Run has quickly become a highlight of our school year. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces, with everyone joining in the fun. The sense of community throughout the day was truly special, and we're already looking forward to next year's event.”

Organised by the Gretton Parents and School Association (PSA), the Colour Run built on the success of its first event last year, which attracted around 200 participants and raised £800 for the village primary school.
This year, the PSA set its sights even higher, with pupils, parents, staff and community members running, walking or jogging the route around the recreation ground, being showered with colourful powder paint.
Throughout the day, participants enjoyed a range of family activities, including a zumba warm-up, stalls selling colour run accessories, a pizza van, a sweet cart and inflatable football darts.
The Colour Run is one of several events organised by the PSA, who help provide the academy and pupils with exciting opportunities throughout the year. Last year, each classroom at the academy received £200 to spend on resources chosen by staff and pupils, including new books, gardening equipment, educational maths games and puzzles.

Julia added: “I’d like to thank not only our PSA, but also The Parish Council, Sports and Social Club, Cricket Club and local businesses whose continued support helps our school and children thrive. We are lucky to have such a strong community spirit here within Gretton, and events like the Colour Run are a fantastic example of what can be achieved when everyone comes together.
“Not only has the event raised valuable funds that directly benefit our pupils, but it has also provided an opportunity for families, friends and the wider community to celebrate the end of the school year, support our Year 6 leavers and create lasting memories for everyone involved.”
