Courteenhall Estate opens its gates for family farm day
Local people are being invited onto Courteenhall Estate this June to explore the estate and enjoy a day in the countryside.

The Northamptonshire estate is taking part in Open Farm Sunday, a national initiative run by LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming), although Courteenhall’s activities will take place a day earlier during the annual Courteenhall Church Fete on Saturday 6 June.
Open Farm Sunday was created to help reconnect people with farming and where their food comes from. This year marks the initiative’s 20th anniversary, with more than 250 farms expected to welcome visitors across the country.

For Courteenhall, the event is an opportunity to open up the estate following its recent King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development, giving local people a glimpse into some of the work behind the award.
From historic woodland and grass-fed Hereford cattle to thriving birdlife, visitors will be able to see some of the ways Courteenhall manages the estate with nature in mind.
Dr Johnny Wake, Managing Partner at Courteenhall Estate says:
“The countryside shouldn’t feel separate from the community around it. Open Farm Sunday is a chance for people to come onto the estate and see how we farm with the environment, not against it.”

Alongside tractor and trailer rides, the church fete will include a BBQ, brass band, games, cakes, strawberries and cream, pony and trap rides and activities for children.
He adds: “We’d love people to come along and spend some time on the estate.”
Courteenhall has been family-run for more than 350 years. Today, the team manages approximately 2,000 acres of land, with regenerative farming practices embedded across the business to improve soil health, support wildlife and protect the landscape for the future.
