Cobblers spread Christmas cheer across Northampton

The Northampton Town squad made their Christmas visits on Tuesday afternoon to spread some festive cheer.

The aim is to bring joy to children in need this festive season, and the toys collected through the recent appeal were distributed to the Northamptonshire Children’s Trust, Northampton General Hospital, Cynthia Spencer Hospice and the United Reformed Church, Castle Hill in Northampton.

A number of the club's partners, sponsors and supporters have helped with this appeal and we would like to say a big thank you to Snowdon Homes, AM Water Services Ltd, Persimmon Homes, Cawleys, Jackson Grundy, KCI Office Solutions, Tempeo, FormFive, Country Lion, Hawsons, Smyths Toys and St Gregory’s Primary School

"It's really important to spread some cheer to those who are unfortunate to be in hospital at this time of year," said defender Nesta Guinness-Walker. It's a busy period for us with a lot of games but Christmas is an important time of year for family and community and it is great to make visits like this."

"It has been a real community effort and that is what Northampton Town is about," added midfielder Tyrese Fornah. "It is about giving back and supporting the community and you can tell by how many presents we have dropped off how keen people are to support the community.

"It is a tough time of year for people in and around the hospital but it is about putting a smile on the face of the patients and staff," added striker Ethan Wheatley.

"I came here last year with Nesta and it is good to be back, meeting staff and patients. It is a really important visit, as a club we have a big connection with the community and that's very important and putting smiles on faces is the least we can do," said skipper Jon Guthrie.

"There are plenty of presents here and hopefully they help bring some joy to those in hospital," added striker Jack Vale.
