Celebrate St George’s Day with Morris dancing, music and dragons at Northampton’s Market Square
'It is our third year of celebrating St George’s Day and this has become a popular event, especially for families and children, with traditional entertainment and activities on offer'
Families are invited to join Northampton Town Council’s St George’s Day celebrations, with free children’s activities, traditional Morris dancing, a brass band performance and much more, taking place at Northampton’s Market Square on Saturday, 25th April from 11am - 2.30pm.

St George and his giant friendly dragon are set to entertain crowds throughout the day, along with themed make and take crafts and storytelling sessions on a Northampton Heritage bus, face painting by Agin, a colouring station with history displays and funfair rides (charges apply).
A Medieval Jester show and walkabouts will also take place throughout the day, alongside performances and ‘have a go’ sessions from the Rose & Castle Morris Dancers, plus live music from the Moulton 77 Brass Band.
Councillor Keith Holland-Delamere, Chair of the Community Services Committee at Northampton Town Council, said: “We’ll be celebrating St George’s Day on the Saturday to allow as many people as possible to join in the fun.
“This year we are excited to welcome Northampton Transport Heritage along, who will bring one of their vintage red buses onto the Market Square for the story-telling sessions, delivered by the Northamptonshire Libraries Service.
“Come and find St George, who will be telling tales of his brave encounter with the dragon and learn more about England’s patron saint during the storyteller’s sessions.
“It is our third year of celebrating St George’s Day and this has become a popular event, especially for families and children, with traditional entertainment and activities on offer.
“This is the first event in the Town Council’s packed 2026 calendar, so we’re looking forward to welcoming people along. Check our website and social media channels to find out more about all the exciting events we have planned for the year ahead.”
Other organisations involved in the event include the popular Lemon Pop Workshops, Brightspace NN Creative Workshop, The Mystery Tours and the Northamptonshire Police Cadets, who will have an information stand.
