Campion School student wins sportsman of the year at national awards
Students and staff at Campion School are celebrating after a Year 10 student, Campbell Allen, took home the National Award for Sportsman of the Year at the 2026 Best in Everyone Awards ceremony. The special, in-person ceremony was held at Boughton House in Kettering, Northamptonshire on Friday 19th June.

The Best in Everyone Awards is an annual prize giving event, designed to mark the exceptional achievements of students and staff in United Learning schools – of which Campion are a part – across the country, as well as the contributions they make to their school and wider communities.
This year, Campion held in-school awards and had the difficult task of nominating the most standout winners for the National Awards, open to secondary students and all staff across the Group.

In taking home this prestigious prize, Campbell was recognised for his exceptional prowess across an array of sports, including rugby, football, cricket and cross country. From being selected to play in an international Rugby 7s tournament in Lisbon, Portugal, to captaining the Campion School football team as they won the District Cup, Campbell has proven his sporting talents are second to none.
Beyond sport, Campbell is also an active member of Campion’s leadership programme, helping to organise and run multiple events for our local primary schools. His commitment, work ethic and determination are exemplary.
Speaking of his win, Sportsman of the Year Campbell Allen, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to the PE team at Campion and all the people who have supported me through my Campion and sports journey. I am very proud to have won this award, and I am grateful for all the opportunities I have received.”
Kim Bradley-Smith, Principal at Campion School, said: “Very many congratulations to Campbell on this fantastic award win. Not only is Campbell a phenomenal sportsperson but he is an excellent representative of our school who does a fantastic job of balancing his sporting pursuits with his academic learning, whilst contributing wholeheartedly to our school community. We are all so proud of his ‘Sportsman of the Year’ title which is thoroughly well deserved.”

A bespoke video announcing Campbell’s award win has also been shared across United Learning’s social media platforms to coincide with the in-person ceremony, enabling Campion’s wider school community to join in the festivities.
United Learning extends its sincere thanks to Taylor Shaw and Lexington for their generous sponsorship and support of the event.
