The donation was made to Daventry Town Community Pantry, a charity that provides emergency and essential food supplies to residents of the town and surrounding communities. The service receives referrals for more than 500 families and individuals each month.

The Daventry Town Community Pantry offers a weekly shop for these families. For £5, shoppers can fill a basket with a variety of items including tinned goods, baby food and toiletries.

Lewis Warburton, Site Leader at Amazon in Daventry said: “At Amazon, we’re committed to being a positive force in the communities where our employees live and work. Daventry Town Community Pantry does incredible work supporting local families through difficult times, and we’re proud that our team has been able to contribute to that mission. We hope this donation helps more people in Daventry access the food and essentials they need.”

Noreen French from Daventry Town Community Pantry added:  “Every donation makes a real difference to the families and individuals we support. This contribution will help us keep our pantry stocked and ensure that people in Daventry can continue to access affordable, nutritious food when they need it most. Thank you, Amazon!”

Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities where it operates. Amazon co-founded the Multibank initiative with former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown to support families in need. The West Midlands Multibank opened this year, with Birmingham Voluntary Service Council (BVSC). The initiative has donated more than 12 million surplus goods to over 800,000 families across Wales, Scotland, Greater Manchester, London, Tees Valley and Birmingham. This year, the Multibank will send 1 million orders to families across the UK.

Amazon has supported more than one million students across the UK with free STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer and helps community organisations transport meals and other essentials to families in need through its pro bono logistics programme, Amazon Local Good.

Amazon partners with Comic Relief and is the official home of the charity’s iconic Red Nose. Together with its employees, customers, and partners, Amazon has raised over £4.8 million to fund projects that support people across the UK, and around the world.
