A historic country house in Northamptonshire wants to open a zoo on its grounds.

Holdenby House put a notice in last week's Chronicle & Echo stating its intention to submit a zoo licence application to Daventry District Council.

The stately home in Holdenby will apply in collaboration with Icarus Falconry in less than two months time.

The notice reads: "Holdenby House and Icarus Falconry hereby give notice that in not less than two months after publication of this notice, we intend to make an application to Daventry District Council for the licence to operate a proposed zoo at Holdenby House, Holdenby, Northampton, Northamptonshire, NN6 8DJ.

"A written notice of the intention to make application for a zoo licence, giving details of the proposed zoo, has been sent to the said council.

"This may be inspected, free of charge, at the offices of Daventry District Council at Lodge Road, Daventry, NN11 4FP between the hours of 9am – 4.30pm, Monday to Friday."

Both Holdenby House and Icarus Falconry have been contacted for comment.
