Take a look inside the brand new gaming cafe opening in Northampton TODAY

Anyone who visits the venue dressed in cosplay this weekend will get a free milkshake

A new gaming cafe, including board games, video games and so much more is ready to open in Northampton town centre.

Geek Retreat, in Dychurch Lane, will open its doors to customers for the first time today (Saturday October 17).

The new site will be the sixteenth of its kind in the UK whereby 'geek culture' is 'at the heart'.

Specialising in trading card games, board games, video games, toys, graphic novels, American candy and milkshakes, the venue will hold regular events for anyone interested in pop culture.

The family-friendly cafe caters for children and beginner 'Learn to Play' sessions, through casual players to tournaments for more experienced players for popular games including Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, Dungeons & Dragons and Yu-Gi-Oh!

Board games and video games consoles are also free to use.

And while gaming can be thirsty work, the team will on hand to serve up one of their speciality milkshakes including Nutella, Maltesers, Oreo, Rainbow Dash: skittles and strawberry and Jaffa the Hutt: a blend of ice-cream and Jaffa Cakes.

The grand opening will take place at 11am today and the store will be having an opening event all weekend including free milkshakes for the first ten customers and anyone who comes in dresses in cosplay across the weekend.
