Hundreds on waitlist for award-winning dog care business’ annual ‘Pugchella’ event in Northampton

There are hundreds on a waitlist for an award-winning dog care business’ annual ‘Pugchella’ event being hosted this weekend in Northampton.

Teddy’s Dog Care, in Newport Pagnell Road, was founded by Michelle Wilson in 2010 after she adopted her pug Teddy – who inspired her to expand her love and care to more dogs across the county.

Teddy’s hosts a number of themed events throughout the year to allow owners to get involved, as they usually drop their pets off and it is the staff who get to have all the fun.

The business prides itself on being a unique commercial doggy daycare, as they offer a home environment. This includes a cosy patio and garden with soft furnishings, a large paddock with adventure playground, and the fact it is cage-free and free roaming.

Customers often praise Teddy’s as being unlike anywhere they have seen before, which is something Michelle is very proud of, and loyal regulars who have supported the business for years have come to feel like friends and extended family.

One of Teddy’s Dog Care’s flagship annual events is Pugchella, which was hosted for the first time in August 2023 and has gone from strength to strength each year from then.

Having decided they wanted to offer longer slots at a summer event, the Teddy’s team took inspiration from Coachella festival and planned the pug equivalent. Pugs and their owners travel from all over the country to be part of it.

The popular event is returning to Teddy’s this Sunday (August 9) and this year’s theme is ‘the pug riviera pool party’, which is aiming to be the world’s most glamorous pug holiday.

The team will transport guests to a five-star all inclusive resort created especially for them, and can expect a luxury beach club meets dog festival vibe. They will step into a tropical paradise, complete with splash pools, sun loungers, VIP cabanas and poolside ‘pug-tails’.

Every guest can soak up the atmosphere of a boutique holiday resort without leaving Northampton and feel as though they have checked into a pug-friendly paradise.

There will be splash pools and water play, luxury sun lounger chill zones, tropical photo sets and holiday-themed props, VIP cabana-style lounging areas, poolside games and resort entertainment, off-lead social play, treat stations and pup refreshments, a shopping village and boutique stalls, food and drink for owners, and prize competitions.

Michelle says that Pugchella is more than an event and is an experience. For one magical day, Teddy’s will transform into a dog-friendly holiday destination where furry friends can run, splash, relax and make unforgettable memories.
