Funfair returns to Sixfields in Northampton - how long is it there for and what are the covid safety measures?

The £1.50 funfair has returned to Sixfields to provide some much-needed family fun within a coronavirus-safe environment after months of lockdown.

All the usual rides and attractions will be in the north car park on Walter Tull Way until Sunday, May 9, after arriving on Monday (April 12).

Theme parks were able to reopen on Monday as part of the government's roadmap out of lockdown alongside non-essential shops, hairdressers and outdoor hospitality.

John Scarrott and Sons, the firm behind the funfair, has a long list of measures to ensure visitors stay safe such as limited capacity on rides, enhanced cleaning and Track and Trace for everyone aged over 16.

Visitors must stick to the 'rule of six', cash and contactless payments are accepted, social distancing must be adhered to and hand sanitisers are available around the site.

Face masks are not mandatory as it is all outdoors but masks are available to buy upon arrival should anyone feel the need to wear one.

The firm wrote on Facebook: "Whilst we are making every effort to make our event Covid-19 safe, we do ask that the public follow the rules in place, helping us to keep the ‘fun’ in funfair!"

The funfair is open from 5-10pm on weekdays and 2-10pm at the weekend.

Entry and parking are free with visitors just having to pay £1.50 per person to go on the rides or use the attractions.
