Overstone Grange Farm is launching its pick your own sunflower season again today (Saturday) within their five acre field just outside Northampton.

Fifth-generation farmer Tom Harris took the plunge for the first time last year to see how the pick your own concept would work.

The family, including wife Lucy and son George, wanted to offer young families a good value day out.

With the 2019 sunflower season proving extremely popular, the farm went on to do pick your own pumpkins in October.

A total of 20,000 tulip bulbs were then planted ahead of the nationwide lockdown kicking in in March.

The tulips didn't go to waste however with hundreds of bunches of flowers given away to key workers across Northants. As lockdown now eases, the family are back for a second year of sunflowers at the farm in Kettering Road, Moulton with strict Covid measures in places.

The farm will open today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday) from 10am to 4pm.

There will be coffee, cake and ice creams to buy, as well as the bale maze, bale towers, games, hidden painted rocks and the tractor tyre sandpit.

This year's sunflowers have been planted slightly further apart and there isn't a dedicated trail this year - just two of the measures to help with social distancing.

Cleaning will be carries out every hour and visitors are reminded there are no toilets on site.

There is no entry or parking fees and a bunch of sunflowers are five for £5.
