A group of DJs who have previously joined forces to raise money for the NHS are preparing once again to host a charity event.

After the success of their 48-hour virtual festival in April, eight DJs will host a brunch event over the bank holiday weekend.

Themed around the iconic comedy characters, Kevin and Perry, the brunch will be held in the outside space of the Old White Hart pub on Sunday (August 30), where there will be a marquee in case the Great British weather takes over.

The event has been planned to incorporate all social distancing guidelines and will once again raise money for the NHS.

Ian Sutherland, DJ and one of the organisers, said: “I contacted my friends who played the 48-hour festival to ask who would do an hour slot and a lot of them were keen.

“We had been doing Kevin and Perry themed events at the Picturedrome, but because we can’t have normal events there at the moment, we flipped it on its head and are doing its sister pub.

“We would normally play Ibiza dance anthems, but instead we will be doing Cafe Mambo style.”

As part of the themed event, waiting staff will be dressed as Kevin and Perry while DJs play a one hour slot each, as well as a percussionist and saxophonist ‘for atmosphere’.

The day will be split into two four hour sessions, the earlier of which will be family friendly and there will be an hour between slots for cleaning to take place.

Ian added: “Everywhere is running at a third of its usual capacity at the moment so we’ve got only a third of how many we would normally have.

“The tables outside are all two metres apart, there’s a really good track and trace system in place and tickets are being sold as tables rather than individually so households don’t mix.

“Everyone can order beer and food on the app as well, and waiters dressed as Kevin and Perry will bring it all out.”

Money raised from ticket sales will be donated to Northampton General Hospital.

“Just because we are mainly out of lockdown doesn’t mean the problem has gone away, so a percentage of the ticket sales will go to the NHS,” Ian added.

“This time, because we are able to be together a little bit more, we will donate locally rather than nationally as it is more relevant.

“And we’re hoping to do more charity events later in the year, hopefully including some of the events we should have been doing.”

The 12pm-4pm session is nearly sold out and the 5pm-10pm slot has limited availability, but some tickets are still available.
