A five kilometre, family-friendly, foam-filled fun run is coming to Northampton this summer.

‘Bubble Rush’ will take fundraisers, who can be of any age or running ability, on a two-lap route around Abington Park on June 27.

On each lap, runners will pass four ‘bubble stations’, which will dispense colourful foam to create a four foot deep bubble bath, of sorts.

The event is partnered with Marie Curie and participants will be asked to raise money for the hospice.

Kelly Knighting-Wykes, fundraising manager at Marie Curie, said: “Bubble Rush is an enormously fun way for friends and families to raise money, all while enjoying a great day out.

“During the pandemic, Marie Curie has seen an increased demand on services caring for dying people and supporting their loved ones.

“Thanks to the public’s generosity at events like Bubble Rush, it will ensure Marie Curie nurses can continue providing the vital care for people who are dying and living with a terminal illness, as well as their loved ones, when they need it most.”

Diana Caldwell, part of the Bubble Rush organising team added: “After such a challenging year when families and friends have been kept apart by the pandemic we are really looking forward to giving them the opportunity to have some fun together and help a good cause.

“We’re really looking forward to working with Marie Curie teams across the UK, and adding some colour to peoples’ calendars.”

Bubble Rush events are being planned to ensure they operate in a Covid-safe way, in line with guidance issued by the Government, including provision for social distancing and enhanced hygiene measures.
