9. Northampton Museum and Art Gallery
Similarly, there is also a trail and a workshop planned for the town centre museum. There is a trainer trail, which is £2, running all week. And on Thursday February 16 there is a trainer upcycling workshop, where children can give their old trainers a new lease of life. The session costs £4 and runs from 10am- midday or 1-3pm. Children must be accompanied and booking is essential. Visit the museum website to find out more and book. Photo: Northampton Museum and Art Gallery

10. Hunsbury Hill Country Park
The country park has plenty of play equipment for children, as well as an ironstone railway and a railway museum. Best of all, parking is free so this could be an inexpensive day out, especially if you take a picnic for the kids to enjoy. Photo: Google

11. Check out the new play equipment at Abington Park
The play area at Abington Park has reopened after it was closed for refurbishment. The climbing frame and safety matting were replaced, and a piece of equipment that was previously taken away has been replaced. The kids will surely be eager to explore the new equipment and of course, if you can walk there, this would be a completely free way to spend an afternoon. Photo: Northampton Parks
