It feels like we’re well and truly waving goodbye to Summer and welcoming in Autumn, so now is as good a time as any to start thinking about Halloween.
Family favourites across Northamptonshire will open again for you to go and pick your own pumpkins.
Some pick your own patches open as soon as the beginning of October so if you and your little ones want to get the pick of the bunch, now is the time to start making plans.
Booking sooner rather than later will help to avoid disappointment – as Halloween isn’t the same unless you’ve picked and carved a pumpkin, right?
Below are eight pumpkin patches around Northamptonshire, and some further afield, plus booking details and more information to help you have an amazing day out.
5. Farndon Fields Farm Shop
Farndon Fields Farm Shop has planted their biggest pumpkin patch to date, with over 40,000 to choose from. There will be plenty of photo opportunities and delicious local food and drink available to purchase. They’ll be opening their doors on Saturday, October 9 and you can enter for just £2 a person. The patch is situated on their farm, just a short drive from the farm shop which you can pop along to during your visit. You can book tickets online.

6. Welford Christmas Tree Farm
No booking is required to pick your own pumpkin, visit their tipi cafe, play in their paddock and pet the pigs at the Welford Christmas Tree Farm. If you want to take part in the Spooky Pumpkin Hunt, tickets are £6 per child and can be purchased here. They are open on Saturday and Sunday, October 16 and 17, and from Saturday October 23 until Halloween itself.

7. Malt Kiln Farm Shop
Bookings for pumpkin picking at the Malt Kiln Farm Shop don’t open until the end of September. The patch will be open the first, second and third weekends in October, and then from Thursday, October 21 until Halloween itself. Entry will be £5 per car, which acts as a down payment on any produce you pick. Any additional produce picked above the cost of the entry fee will be charged at price per kilogram for that particular item. Follow their Facebook and Instagram, linked below, for updates.

8. The Patch MK
Slightly further afield in Milton Keynes is the Patch MK. They have over 80,000 pumpkins and squashes to choose from and many varieties. You’ll be able to get professional photographs taken, let the kids run wild in the play areas and grab some freshly prepared food from the ‘Paranormal Patch Pantry’ – housed in a new enclosed marquee for you to keep warm. You can visit for £1.95 (aged two and over) from Saturday, October 2 and you can pre-book online.
