Skylark Farm, which hosts ‘rustic and relaxed’ weddings in the heart of the countryside near Staverton, will be offering bespoke glamping packages for the first time this year.

Dave Thomas, who owns the farm with wife Samantha, says they can cater for any number of guests keen to stay in a luxurious bell tent after partying the night away.

“Our glamping option means that guests can stay on the site together and not have to worry about getting home that night,” he says.

“It's also a nice way to continue the party by all having breakfast together the next morning and it offers the group more privacy than if you're staying in a hotel with lots of other people.”

Hiring the farm offers couples the chance to add their personal touches to make it a perfect day to remember: outstanding celebrations last year included a team of professional wrestlers entertaining guests at one wedding, while a couple booked for 2019 will be bringing 200 Harley Davidson motorbikes to form a revving aisle for the bride.

Also new at Skylark Farm for 2019 will be the chance to hire the site for any special event, from a big birthday to a special anniversary. It’s a good way for Dave and Sam to make the most of the farm’s beautiful barns and stunning setting, although the couple saw a rise in weekday weddings last year from couples seeking a better deal, with Mondays being increasingly popular.

“We’re a unique country venue with amazing views, but we do offer great value,” continues Dave.

“We're looking forward to welcoming people to our glamping site which is in our wooded area, so you can't really get closer to nature than that!

“Because we have so much space, we can accommodate as many people as we need to, whether that's 10 or 100... and there's a 220-room hotel just two minutes' drive away for people who don't want to sleep under canvas.”

And at Skylark, the happy couple and their guests can enjoy a more laidback way of life: check-in is available two hours before the ceremony to give people plenty of time to arrive and settle in before the wedding.

“We’d also like to make it clear that we don’t do back-to-back weddings,” adds Dave. “We want people to have plenty of time to set up and get it looking exactly how they’d like it ahead of their big day.”

Wedding packages, which include exclusive use of Skylark Farm and the ceremony room with picturesque views of the countryside, as well as a disco for the evening and full bar facilities, start at £2,000 during the quieter months of the year. The package also includes a tasting evening for the couple and the services of a wedding and event manager to help plan the day.

Prices for glamping costs £100 per night (including breakfast) for a double bed or two singles; the beautiful bell tents can also sleep families of two adults and two children at £130 per night (including breakfast).
