Towcester Racecourse has apologised to disappointed customers who had booked tickets to drive-in cinema screenings which had to be cancelled.

The London Road venue had organised several shows but licencing issues were causing too many logistic problems so the decision was made to cancel them.

A racecourse spokesman said every customer was refunded by TicketSource, which organised the bookings, with an apology.

"Filmbankmedia advertised a selection of films that were available on their website when the Government decided to reopen the cinemas, parks and other zoos etc," the spokesman said.

"Filmbankmedia had to retract the offer of these films as the studios wanted to show them in the cinemas, making them unavailable to those wanting to show then at drive-in setups, hence why we had to pull down all advertisement for all films that were going to be supplied with by them."

Editor's note: The original version of this story included a comment from Towcester Racecourse saying South Northamptonshire Council kept changing dates which made caused scheduling issues. The racecourse would like to apologise to the council as this was not true as the council has been nothing but helpful.
