All events at The Picturedrome in Northampton have been rescheduled after the owners initially hoped to keep this weekend's plans on despite the coronavirus outbreak.

The Kettering Road venue originally planned to stick with the events booked for Friday and Saturday and close from Monday.

But following negative comments online as the government has advised people to avoid social contact, the owners have taken the difficult decision to close for now.

A statement from the owners said: “The decision to close was made because we would rather put on great events where people are feeling safe in our venue, focusing on the music, and enjoying the good times.

"Hopefully if we can all make it through this tough time we can put some great events back on to bring Northampton back together again!”

For questions around tickets, customers are asked to contact their ticket provider.

In a Facebook post, they wrote: "We are so sorry to all of you who were looking forward to the event this weekend and supporting us in staying open, we are sorry to those who felt that we were closing too slowly, we are sorry to the artists that we have let down.

"We know everyone is struggling during this tough time and wish them love, but closing the doors to our beloved, family run venue is the hardest decision, we have ever had to make.

"We really hope we make it through this and see you all on the other side, support local music wherever you can."
