  • Slipknot have sold a majority stake in their back catalogue to global investment firm, HarbourView Equity Partners.

  • They join another recent acquisition for the company, Kelly Clarkson, who sold a portion of her catalogue in July 2025.

Nu metal titans Slipknot have become the latest group of musicians to sell their music catalogue for an estimated $120 million ( £91.2m).

The group were reported earlier this year to be looking to sell their past music catalogue after splitting from Roadrunner Records in 2022, with a report at the time suggesting that their works were worth the aforementioned estimate.

The deal was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter after global investment firm HarbourView Equity Partners acknowledged the transaction, and while no details on the final sale amount were disclosed, the firm did confirm that the deal includes publishing and royalty rights.

Speaking about the deal, Slipknot founding percussionist Shawn Crahan released a statement revealing that after a quarter of a century in the music industry, “we find ourselves with a partner that is willing to sign onto continuing what Slipknot started.

“Only they wanted to go even bigger. Get ready. Hail The Knot.”

Founder and CEO of HarbourView Equity Partners, Sherrese Clarke, spoke about how the band had “redefined heavy metal and created a global cultural phenomenon,” and that they could “clearly see the cultural impact of Slipknot from the 1990s to present.

“ The enduring and relevant proof points with Slipknot remain core to our investing thesis, and HarbourView is honoured to help preserve and amplify the group’s work for decades and generations to come. “

HarbourView Equity Partners was formed in 2021 and focuses on opportunities in the entertainment, sports, and media markets, specifically targeting businesses or assets powered by valuable intellectual property (IP), such as music catalogues.

Since launching in 2021, the firm has been very active, acquiring an asset portfolio that includes over 24,000 song titles and has also partnered with artists and producers like Hit-Boy.

Slipknot’s move comes shortly after HarbourView Equity Partners (the same firm that bought Slipknot's stake) acquired a portion of pop star Kelly Clarkson's music catalogue back in July 2025.
