A solicitor and a broadcaster from Northampton have teamed up to release a song to raise money for a cancer support charity.

Kevin Rogers, who has become known as the 'singing solicitor', and John Griff recorded a cover of Billy Bragg's Tank Park Salute.

The singer released it as a tribute to his father who died of lung cancer so the pair thought it made a perfect tune to put out on World Cancer Day on Thursday, February 4.

So far nearly £1,500 has been donated online in aid of The Lewis Foundation and the tune is also available to listen to on all streaming services.

Kevin said: "I am delighted to say that we have raised over £1,476 which pays for over 410 gifts to cancer patients in hospital.

"To think that people have been so generous, especially at this time, is really humbling, and to know that the song will keep raising cash and awareness is really special.

"We never expected such a huge response!”

Kevin’s best friend and former colleague at Wilson Browne Solicitors, Graham Hill, died of skin cancer eight years ago, leaving four children.

In memory of his friend and the many people living with cancer, Kevin decided to help The Lewis Foundation, which gives immediate support by providing items to patients they might find difficult to buy themselves or simply cannot afford.

Every week the Northampton-based charity sources, packages and hand delivers free gifts and support packs to adult cancer patients in seven different hospitals.

Kevin turned to John for help to create a ‘lockdown charm’ version of Tank Park Salute while Sony Music granted the licence to be released on Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, and Youtube Music.
