Rescheduled music festival in Northampton is cancelled to prioritise this year’s event

Organisers of the Northampton Music Festival have scrapped plans to hold last year’s festival next month.

A music festival which had been rescheduled twice because of the coronavirus has been cancelled – with organisers now prioritising this year’s event.

The Northampton Music Festival was originally due to take place in June last year.

However, it was firstly postponed to September and then again to March this year.

Organisers have now cancelled it and are instead working on 2021’s festival.

In a statement, they said: “After much deliberation and as a result of the continuing COVID-19 situation, the rescheduled NMF2020 that was due to take place next month has unfortunately been cancelled.

“The 2021 festival will be taking place on the 20th June as planned and we cannot wait to bring everyone together for a well-deserved festival.

“Thank you so much for your support. Stay safe.”

The annual free festival takes place in Northampton’s town centre on stages at different locations.

In previous years, there have been stages in the Market Square, Abington Street, in front of All Saints’ Church, in the courtyard of NN Contemporary Art and at the University of Northampton’s student union, The Platform.

In 2019 acts including The Blockheads, Lunaxis, Empyre, The Big Dirty, Kinships, King's Gambit and Repro Jam Squad all played the festival.
