All general admission tickets for the gig, due to be held on July 5, will be refunded by the the third-party ticket provider.

The local venue has been left disappointed by the announcement, but is looking ahead to future concerts.

Mark Darbon, Northampton Saints chief executive, said: "I’m sure that the thousands of Pussycat Dolls fans who bought tickets for what promised to be a special night are just as disappointed about this announcement as we are.

“I want to thank all general admission and hospitality customers for their patience and understanding while we have waited to see whether staging the event would be possible given the current public health situation – but of course the safety of concert-goers, staff and the artists themselves was our number one priority throughout.

Refunds on general admission tickets will be issued to customers through whichever third-party provider they used.

Anyone with hospitality tickets will be contacted by a member of the sales team at Northampton Saints.
