Northampton Music Festival: more stages and more local talent on show

Now entering its ninth year, the free festival aims to raise the profile of the town by showcasing local talent.

The festival will run from Friday, June 17 to Sunday, June 19, and feature performances on stages and at venues across the town, with the main festival on the last day.

Last year saw the addition of two new stages offering classical and jazz performances.

These will return this year alongside stages offering everything from indie to acoustic and from blues to reggae.

There will be six outdoor stage and more than 12 venues taking part in the event.

These include the Market Square stage, The Eastgate stage, the Guildhall classical stage and the NN Gallery jazz stage with performances also in Abington Street and All Saints.

The Eastgate stage is a new area which will feature the best in emerging and alternative talent.

It is being presented in association with Maule Brewery, who will be running a bar area making this the second outdoor location to offer a full bar and production, alongside the main Market Square space.

On the Saturday, pop-up stages will appear in St Peters Way and Abington Street.

All of the acts playing the festival are from or based in Northamptonshire.

With more than 35,000 visitors expected, NMF is one of the largest urban festivals in the country.

This year’s festival will also feature variety of pop-up kitchens, featuring taster menus provided by local restaurants and cafes, as well as an extensive arts market, showcasing the region’s artists.

The Northampton Music Festival is run by Northampton Music 365, a not for profit community interest group, in Partnership with the Northampton Town Centre BID and Northampton Borough Council.
