After a year of uncertainty and fear around Covid-19 and what might happen next, many performers are putting their best foot forward in a rather hopeful offering for 2022.
From famous comedians to the finest fakery, 2022 is shaping up to be a very enjoyable year.
Northampton audiences will get to laugh, dance, dine and, perhaps, get a bit merry as well.
With appearances by everyone from Jimmy Carr, Dara and O'Briain and even the King of Pop and characters from Fawlty Towers, there will be no shortage of entertainment.
While the impact of the Omicron variant on entertainment may not yet be known, we can only hope that these events get to brighten up our days in the coming year.

5. Events to look forward to in 2022
The smart Irish comic Dara O'Briain is getting back on tour in 2022 after a brief hiatus. In his latest show 'So, where were we?' the regular host of 'Have I got News for You?' will avoid all mention of the last year and a half will instead fire out the usual mix of stories, one-liners, audience messing, and tripping over his words because he is talking too quickly, because he’s so giddy to be back in front of a crowd. The comic will appear at Royal and Derngate on Sunday May 15.
One for the families now. The Mega Funtopia festival will be hosted at Delapre Abbey in Northampton for the first time this year. Making two separate appearances, one on June 11 and 12 and the other on August 13 and 14, the festival will feature Bouncy Castles, Obstacle Course, Inflatable Slide, Bungee Run, Human Wrecking Ball, Inflata-Bull, Nerf Wars, Driving School, Circus Skills and more.
Olly Murs is bringing his latest summer outdoor show to Cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens on Saturday 25 June, 2022.
He will be performing all his biggest hits, including tracks from his recently certified triple platinum album ‘Never Been Better’.
After headlining numerous summer shows across the country and recently captaining England in this year’s Soccer Aid, the X-Factor winner will be bringing his multi-award winning talents to Northampton.
The famous comedian and regular TV show host Jimmy Carr will take to the stage at Northampton's Royal and Derngate theatre with his new show 'Terribly Funny'.
Assuaging 'political correctness' and poking fun at all the 'terrible things' that happened of late, this darkly comical routine will draw a lot of eyes when it arrives on Wednesday July 21.
