The Northampton native – who is best known as lead singer of British folk-rock supergroup TRADarrr and duo Fleetwood and Cave - released the track She Dreams of Horses this week.

All of the proceeds from the digital downloads will be donated to the charity.

He said: “I was born and raised in Northampton and I have been aware for quite a while of the great work that Home Start Northampton carries out.

“The decision to donate all of the money made from the single’s download sales to Home Start was an easy one for me.

“I hope to raise as much as possible and of course any awareness that we can raise at this time I hope will go a long way.

“Many charities rely on concerts and public events to raise essential money needed to keep their project going.

“With the pandemic putting a stop to nearly all public events over the last 12 months and for the foreseeable, our amazing charities have been hit hard.”

Home-Start Northampton has volunteers who help families facing adversities such as isolation, the effects of post-natal illness, disability, mental health issues, bereavement, financial difficulties and other challenges.

She Dreams of Horses is available via Cave’s Bandcamp page and costs £1 – however Bandcamp allows you to pay more if you choose to.

Gregg’s band TRADarrr recently released their third studio album Strange News and he hopes to release a full solo album later this year.

Talking about the single, Cave said: “At the core of the song is the theme of my own personal relationship with family and in particular the concept that the love and nurture that is given to us all through family stays with us even in times when we are separated.

“I have been very lucky to have been brought up by a close family unit with my mum and dad at the centre and now I am a father myself I can see even more how lucky I am.

“It is so important that as a society we keep supporting family units.

“Families of course come in all shapes and sizes with biological parents, carers, step-parents, foster parents the list can go on and it is so important for all of these family units to have the same opportunities, opportunities that I feel can at times be taken for granted.”
