Saints’ clash with Harlequins opens the evening, and after each team has played each other the evening’s hosts will face Saracens in the final match.

The action gets underway at 7:15pm, with the two best teams going through to finals day.

Saints are likely to call on a crop of youngsters who were given a taste of life in the 15-man first-team last season.

Howard Packman is an almost certain starter, with the young back having shown his skills in sevens with the England team.

Sam Olver is another talent who may get a run-out, while players such as Tom Collins and Tom Stephenson, both of whom have impressed in the sevens series in the past, could also be called upon.

Saints struggled in last year’s sevens series, with Newcastle and Leicester the teams to prevail from the Franklin’s Gardens meeting.

But with more and more talent coming through the Northampton Academy, they will be well-fancied on this occasion in a competition that has proved to be a good pathway into the senior setup.

Franklin’s Gardens schedule: Harlequins v Saints, Saracens v Wasps, Saracens v Harlequins, Saints v Wasps, Harlequins v Wasps, Saints v Saracens.
