It was Mexican fancy dress night for many of the Saints players as they took their seats in the stands to watch the Vitality T20 Blast opener against Glamorgan.
And they picked up a good match to turn up to as the Steelbacks held their nerve to secure a three-run success in the final over.
George Scrimshaw kept his cool in the heat to ensure the away side could not get over the line with the bat late on.
And the Saints players certainly seemed to enjoy the occasion as they made the most of a weekend off.
Phil Dowson’s men were not in action as they unfortunately bowed out at the Investec Champions Cup quarter-final stage with a heartbreaking defeat at Bath.
Bath went on to lose in the semi-finals to Union Bordeaux Bègles, who beat Leinster 41-19 in last Saturday’s showpiece in Bilbao.
Not being in the final meant the Saints players could take the chance to recharge the batteries as they are currently in the thick of a Gallagher PREM battle.
The table-toppers have two games of the regular season remaining, hosting Gloucester this Saturday before travelling to Harlequins a week later.
Saints are already certain to be in the play-offs, which take place on the second weekend of June, but Dowson’s side are targeting a home semi-final.
And they will no doubt be backed by the Steelbacks players in the weeks to come, having shown their support for the cricket team last Friday.
There is a strong connection between the clubs, as well as with the Cobblers.
And Lehmann was delighted to see so many Saints stars in attendance at the cinch County Ground last Friday.
"The Saints players enjoyed it and so they should,” Lehmann said.
"They have been playing really good rugby this year, and we want to wish them all the best for the back end of their campaign.
"It is great to have their support and our boys love the Saints, they get down there whenever they can.
"So we thank them for coming along on Friday, hopefully they had a great day, and it was good they went away with a win."
