In-form Hendy set for 'low-key' Christmas as he switches focus to Bath battle

George Hendy insists he won't be celebrating his Sale heroics with a Christmas feast as he keeps full focus on what is to come for Saints.

Hendy was named man of the match in Saturday's 47-21 win against Sale Sharks, scoring two fine tries and setting up one for Henry Pollock.

The talented winger has now scored six tries in just three games and he is eager to keep that form going.

Consequently, he is ready to enjoy a 'low-key' Christmas as he looks to help Saints beat Bath in a huge Gallagher PREM game at The Rec on December 27.

"I won't be eating too much at Christmas with Bath two days after!" Hendy said.

"We're all looking forward to going down there and putting on a bit of a show on the 27th.

"I'll be at home with the family for Christmas and we've got some family friends coming round so it will be pretty low-key.

"We travel to Bath on the 26th so nothing too crazy. Maybe a drink on Christmas Eve but who knows?"

Hendy is absolutely flying right now, with his finishing ability coming to the fore.

And the 23-year-old, who has scored eight tries in 10 appearances this season, said: "As a winger, crossing the try line is always good fun.

"We put in a good performance to get a good result against Sale.

"Especially in that first 20 minutes, we really came out firing.

"We knew it was going to be a scrap against Sale because they pride themselves on physicality, similar to the Bulls and Pau the week before that so we had a good run of form in Europe and wanted to take it into the PREM.

"We're a team where if we do our basics well, only good things are going to happen.

"You saw that (Josh) Kemeny try up the middle and although that try was pretty special, Kem does that kind of thing week in, week out.

"TP (Tom Pearson) at the end there, Pollock in the first five minutes - we're just doing good basics and getting good tries on the back of it."

When asked about being named man of the match, Hendy said: "I'm obviously happy to take it but it was a full 23-man performance so everyone can be very proud!"

Saints remain unbeaten at home in the PREM this season.

And Hendy said: "It's one thing we've always spoken about, that this place is becoming a bit of a fortress for us.

"It's a tough place for sides to come and get results so we want to keep it that way.

"A big focus was also our away form this season and we started off strong in the PREM so we want to keep that going."
