Dowson can't wait to see Langdon back in action as he signs new Saints deal

Phil Dowson can't wait to see Curtis Langdon back in action after the 'enormous talent' signed a new contract with Saints.

Langdon is yet to feature this season due to ongoing rehabilitation from shoulder surgery, but he is hoping to be back to bolster Saints' silverware bid in the not too distant future.

His return will be like the addition of a new signing for the black, green and gold, with the 28-year-old such an influential member of the squad.

The England international has reached exactly 50 appearances for Saints, having made his debut against Cambridge in 2023.

Since arriving at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens, Langdon has enjoyed a remarkable spell, collecting a Gallagher PREM winners medal, an Investec Champions Cup runners-up medal, and taking his number of Test appearances with England to four, while also turning out twice for England A.

And Dowson said: “Curt has had an enormous impact at Saints.

"He’s an outstanding talent, and he’s worked very hard over the last couple of years to put himself back into international contention.

“His physicality, his ability to break a game open, his offloading skills, and his knack for being in the right place at the right time because he reads play so well make him a top‑class hooker.

“He’s naturally combative, and brings an edge in his physicality as well as adding a huge amount of energy to the group. Curtis is always competitive.

“He’s a terrific character and he’s not afraid to speak his mind, which is exactly what we want.

“Obviously we’ve really missed him this season, but hopefully it won’t be too long before we see him back out there charging around in a Saints jersey.”
