A Northampton martial arts organisation hosted a successful annual awards evening celebrating young people’s achievement, confidence and community contribution.

Proaction Martial Arts & Fitness welcomed students, families and local supporters to its 2026 Annual Awards Evening held at Franklin’s Gardens.

The event recognised students across Taekwondo, Kickboxing and Mighty Monkeys training programmes, highlighting dedication, personal development and positive behaviour as well as sporting performance.

Special guest Luke Chadwick, former Manchester United midfielder, attended the evening to present awards and speak with young students.

During an on-stage interview, Chadwick shared experiences from his professional football career, discussing resilience, mental strength and learning from setbacks. The message was particularly important for the young people taking part in the competitive and developmental sport.

The awards ceremony celebrated students of all ages. Recognition was given for commitment to training, respect for others and personal progress throughout the year.

Rather than focusing solely on competition results, the academy emphasised character development, confidence building and long-term growth.

The evening also supported local and international charity causes.

Fundraising activities raised money for Service Six, which supports children’s mental health across the region, as well as The Amani School, an education project in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Local businesses supported the event through sponsorship and prize donations. Headline sponsor Wilson Browne Solicitors joined a range of regional partners helping to make the evening possible.

Directors Tom and Jas Nicholson said the awards evening is put on annually on to reflect the organisation’s wider mission.

They explained: “Our annual awards night is about more than martial arts. It is about giving young people confidence, purpose and a supportive environment where they can grow.”

The organisation also announced plans to launch a charitable foundation aimed at widening access to martial arts training, supporting families, and strengthening community participation in sport across Northamptonshire.

Proaction Martial Arts & Fitness delivers training programmes for children and young people across the region, focusing on confidence, discipline and physical wellbeing.
