The British GP is due to be raced at the Northamptonshire track on Sunday, July 19, and as it stands the race is going ahead.

It is a similar story with the British MotoGP which is scheduled for Silverstone in August.

But if the health crisis continues deep into the summer and the race is called off, then fans have been reassured they will be able to get their money back.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, managing director of the Silverstone circuit, Stuart Pringle, said: “We cannot predict what the situation will be by the time we get to the summer months.

“I promise you that everyone at Silverstone is doing everything they can to ensure we run F1 and MotoGP on their planned dates in July and August.

“But should we be forced to cancel either, all customers who have a ticket will be given the option of a full refund.”

Silverstone has been the home to the British Grand Prix since 1987, and is regularly the best attended race on the F1 calendar.

In 2019, a total of 351,000 people attended across the race weekend.
