Conway commits to Northants as Australian pace bowler signs new two-year deal

Pace bowler Harry Conway has signed a new two-year deal with Northants.

The Australian has enjoyed part-season stints at the cinch County Ground over the past two years, but he has now put pen to paper on a deal that will see him available for the whole summer in 2027 and 2028.

Conway will be available for the entire Rothesay County Championship and Metro Bank One Day Cup campaigns.

“It was a pretty easy decision for me,” said Conway, who is also set to feature in Northants' upcoming final three matches of the season.

“It’s a really exciting time at the club.

"I had a great stint this year, but being around for the whole season is something I’m really looking forward to.”

Conway played in the opening eight matches of the Championship campaign earlier this summer, taking 34 wickets in the process.

In 2025, the seamer claimed 20 wickets in his four matches, meaning in his 12 appearances for Northants to date he has snared an impressive 54 wickets at 22.67 apiece.

He will now be looking to add to that tally over the next few weeks as he returns to the County side as their second overseas player following the departure of fellow Aussie Nathan McSweeney.

Tuesday's trip to Worcestershire will be the first time Conway will have taken to the field alongside Indian leg-spinner Yuzi Chahal, and he said: "I’m really keen to re-join the team and bowl in tandem with Yuzi for the first time in my career.

“I think the team are pushing really hard at the moment, and we’ve now found ourselves in a position that we could be promoted.

“Every day of cricket feels like it’s got something on it which is very exciting.”

Darren Lehmann is delighted to see Conway commit to two full years at Wantage Road.

“Harry’s quality and personality has been clear to see over the past two seasons so to have him available across the whole season will be a real boost to us," said the head coach.

“He’s great to have around the dressing room and has really bought into the culture of the club, which is brilliant to see.”

Conway will return to the squad as Northants go into the final three matches of the season, sitting third in the Rothesay Division Two table.

The hammering at the hands of Durham on Saturday, coupled with Kent's win over Worcestershire, means the County are now 15 points behind the south east county in the race for the second promotion spot behind champions-elect Durham.

While Northants are in action at New Road, Kent go to Derbyshire.
