Keith Curle will have a full squad to pick from for Monday's play-off final - barring any last-minute positive tests for coronavirus - after his players pulled up well in training following their exertions at Cheltenham Town on Monday.

The Cobblers put in an epic shift at Whaddon Road as they overturned a 2-0 deficit from the first leg to win 3-2 on aggregate, and now they must do it all over again against Exeter City at Wembley in the League Two play-off final.

Curle delivered a promising update on his squad on Friday afternoon, although all players and staff will be tested again tomorrow (Saturday) and must return negative results to be in contention for the final. Anyone who tests positive will be forced to sit out.

"We're all good and we have a clean bill of health," said Curle. "Now we're just waiting on the latest test results that were done on Thursday.

"We've got another round of testing to come on Saturday but the players have been made aware of the protocols and they've been excellent so far.

"Not only when they're at the football club and the stadium but also at home because they know they have guidelines they need to adhere to and they have done."

Curle will be expected to stick with the same XI that started at Cheltenham, however he's warned that might not necessarily be the case, and even if players don't start, they still have a part to play.

"There's unity in the group," he added. "I watched Monday's game back and when Callum Morton's second goal goes in, the subs were warming up and you could see the elation and the togetherness and the willingness for Callum to get on the end of the ball.

"That's very important because we have 24 players training with us and they all know that they've got a part to play, whether that's as a game-changer and coming on or being involved in it and absorbing it.

"There's a positive mental attitude that surrounds the group and that needs everybody to be on board."
