Cobblers dropped a place to 17th in Sky Bet League One after Swindon Town, not Oxford City, leapfrogged them in the table.

With Town not in action, Swindon's game at rivals Oxford was one of three League One fixtures. Matty Taylor gave the U's an early lead but Tom Broadbent and Tyler Smith scored in the last five minutes to complete a dramatic turnaround.

Swindon are up to 16th while Oxford drop to 19th. Elsewhere in League One, Charlton won 2-0 at Ipswich Town and Fleetwood, who visit the PTS on Tuesday, held Sunderland to a 1-1 draw.

And that result, Sunderland's fifth successive game without victory, proved to be the final straw for manager Phil Parkinson. The 52-year-old leaves the club 13 months into a two-and-a-half-year contract. His assistant, Steve Parkin, has also departed.

Parkinson is the second League One manager to get the boot this season after Sam Ricketts left Shrewsbury Town last week. Salop have since appointed Steve Cotterill and his first game in charge ended in an extra-time victory over Oxford City in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Also in the FA Cup, Cobblers loanee Matty Warburton was on target for Yeovil Town in their second-round tie with his former club Stockport County. Warburton found the bottom corner just a few minutes into the game, however it was County who progressed 3-2 winners.
