Keith Curle and the Cobblers have continued to do their bit to support the local community during the coronavirus outbreak by making phone calls to people most in need this week.

Curle has spoken to several supporters over the phone, including 89-year-old season ticket holder Kenneth Chapman among others, while players have posted important messages on their social media feeds.

With the country now in lockdown, football is a long way from most people's thoughts and the club are keen to show their support any way they can, particularly to the most vulnerable.

"It's been an opportunity, as a representative of the club, to reach out to the local community and show that we're here for them," said Curle.

"They show us loyal support and it's now a chance for us to show that we care about them and anything we can do, like a phone call, we want to help.

"It's not just me, it's also the chairman, the players and the coaching staff, we've all been involved because we want our local community to know we're here for them.

"Having unity and having a connection is very important for the club, for the manager, for the players and for the chairman because to know the supporters are valued is massive.

"I've been lucky to speak to a few people this week and it's uplifting for them to hear my voice and also for me to speak to them and find out some interesting stories.

"There's some great love and passion for our football club. I've spoken to Kenneth Chapman, an 89-year-old supporter, I spoke to Mr Garley, a teacher who's still going into school to look after children of key workers, and also Rob Halliwell who is a frequent visitor to the club.

"I also spoke to Rob Malin today, he's 90 years old and told me about his love for the club.

"It's just a great opportunity because it takes just five minutes of my time and makes so much impact - it's fantastic."
